Reid turns 2

Good morning birthday boy!

Happy Birthday Reid Philip! I can't believe you are already 2 years old, but it has been a fun year.
What are some of your favorite things? Reading, reading, reading! You love to sit and read books and you love to sit with someone and read books with them. You are a big fan of "choo, choos" and spend a lot of time driving your trains at home and looking for them (Dart) when we are driving near the tracks. You also enjoying coloring and have about 10 books to choose from...it's always an intense decision. In all honesty, you love learning...and we love that! You can identify most of your letters either my name or sound (shout out to Leap Frog magnetic letter set). I hope that you take your desire to learn and run with it.

Working his new train table and paci (although we were done with paci about a month later - he chewed through all of them and that was the end...whew!)

Cars are perfect!
As you've gotten bigger this year, you have also gotten more adventurous. You love a good swinging session and when we're at the park you try your best to climb anything that's remotely climb-able. I think having an older brother gives you a sense of being bigger than you are, which is good at times, a little tricky at others. When we moved a new bed into your room, for future use, you immediately thought that big bed must belong to you and moved yourself promptly out of the crib. In fact, there were tears when we tried to put you back in the crib, so that was an extremely easy transition. It is a tall bed though, so in a way you're still landlocked and have to wait for us to come get you out. Also, you decided a few months ago that highchairs were for babies and you needed to sit in the same chair as your brother. Again, another easy transition, and actually easier to clean up after than a highchair.
You are also taking your time in the language department. A choice I can tell is all yours because when you really, really want something you can say the word of the item you need. A lot of times your words are gibberish to me, but I know to you they make perfect sense. It's sweet to hear your voice whatever you are saying.
You love a good movie and Toy Story is your favorite. You even have a "Wooey" to sleep with at night and your Buzz Lightyear pajamas are hands down favorite. You've also taking a liking to Monsters, Inc. and like to tell me "Boo!" all the time.

He loves to swing!
We enjoyed your cowboy "Toy Story" birthday party! However, you had tears, which seems to be a Moshell trend for two year old parties. Maybe next year you'll enjoy it a little more.
He loved his birthday cake...a big "tookie"!
Besties and cuties...I love them!
"Happy Birthday to you!"
Luke showed his cowboy spirit...what a good big brother!
My absolute favorite thing about you right now is how much you like to snuggle. It's the best! You especially love to snuggle up after nap time or in the morning and it's wonderful. You know how to nestle right in our arms and will stay there as long as possible. Plus you are always up for big hugs and kisses. You just have a sweet heart and we love you to pieces!

Birthday cupcakes made by Luke and mommy...such a great helper!

We look forward to this next year, as bittersweet as it is to close the door on your babyhood, we are excited for you to grow and stimulate that curious mind. We love you so much more than you will ever, ever know and are so very thankful God gave us you!! Happy Birthday!!

1st Day of the Last Year of Preschool

Waaaa!! I was not anticipating today being a hard day, but knowing that in a year Luke will be starting Kindergarten is giving me heart palpitations. I am so excited for him, HE is sooo excited, and his teacher, Mrs. Faulhaber is fantastic (I know her from when I taught). BUT, I'm still missing him. I am looking forward to what he learns this year and I'm already so proud of how far he has come since the beginning of last year. Thank you Lord for a wonderful school for my baby boy and for putting wonderful people in his life to help teach and lead him.
I don't think it's a coincidence that today's verse was the following:

"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6

Happy morning for all...donuts!

Reid inherited Luke's Buzz Lightyear lunchbox and couldn't be more thrilled!

A little bit forced...
A little bit excited!
Let's roll!
Sigh. So big!

Hand in hand with his hero.
Reid kept wanting his picture taken too. Here he's saying "Cheese!"
There's a genuine Luke smile. It's probably because he's genuinely excited to be here.
"Good morning Mrs. Faulhaber!"
