I'm officially a soccer mom

This was our first year to try out team sports.  Since Luke turned 5, we figured he was ready to give it a shot.  We signed up with the "Hurricane's" through the Richardson YMCA, since our buddies Pierce and Creighton were on the same team.  Plus it was rumored Coach Luke was the best in the league.

Pledge of Allegiance: I was so glad they did this each game.

The Hurricanes: Pierce, Luke, Creighton, Ethan, Anderson and Sam

The season started off with a lot of hesitation and confusion.  Ross and I had to encourage Luke to "Go get the ball!" more times than I can count.  Finally, we succumbed to bribery.  After seeing Creighton with his "soccer glove" on, aka, batting glove, Luke was dying to have his own pair. I told him if he scored a goal at practice and his game, and did a good job listening to Coach Luke, we would go get him some soccer gloves.  Low and behold, he did it and was a totally different kid on the field.  He was much more assertive and focused.  Who knew? Anyways, after that game he really saw the fun in scoring a goal, so he was all over the place trying to get the ball in the net.  He had some disappointments, but scored each game, so all was well.  We had  a great time watching him and look forward to many more games in our future.
