Happy 7th Birthday Luke!

Dear Luke,
I’m sure as you read through your birthday letters they all will start sounding the same at the beginning, which is  I can’t believe how big you are! It’s so true though.  I honestly struggle with the fact that you are now 7 years old.   I’m so thankful though that I have been blessed with such a sweet, compassionate and super creative and cute 7 year old son.
Some of your favorite things as you turn 7 year old are: playing video games, having sleepovers (even better if two friends are invited), drawing epic scenes, writing books, having parties (any occasion, any night), building Legos and setting up movie scenes with action figures.  Like I mentioned earlier, your creativity shines and you also have a knack for the dramatics, so your stories and battle scenes can be pretty epic.
Thankfully you include your little brothers in on this fun a lot of the time and they are so excited when you do because they both think the world of you.  Cade is always so excited to go get you from the bus each day, and Reid is always ready to play together.  However, sometimes you need a little alone time, which I totally understand.
1st grade has been a big transition for you because we moved you into public school this year.  You have made a great friend named Jadon, and your teacher, Mrs. Spann tells me you are a kind to everyone and very honest.  I love hearing these things and I can’t think of anything else I would rather her tell me than you are kind to others.   Your favorite subject at school is Art, but you are doing really well at Math too.  Some of my favorite moments are when I get to sneak up to the school and bring Paradise Bakery for lunch and we can have a little lunch date just the two of us.  I think you like it too, and not just for the chocolate chip cookie.
Pierce and Eli are your best buddies outside of school and we are so thankful to have such great friends where we go to church and in Allen, so you get to see them a lot.  You did take a break from sports this spring and took at Karate class which you did really well in.  And you decided you really like the “Karate Kid” movie too!
If I had to say one thing that stands out to me this past year as you turn 7, it’s how much you care for others and love them.  Your family and friends are so important to you, and even though learning how to not be selfish is a struggle we all face, you do a great job trying to put others before you.

We love you so much and are so proud to be your mom and dad!  Happy 7th Birthday Luke Sawyer!
