Happy 6th Birthday Luke Sawyer

So sweet, so handsome.

Happy Birthday my sweet boy! You are so big, yet still my tiny little baby in my heart.  Thankfully you still let me hold you once in awhile and don't shy away from hugs and love.  You have done quite a bit of growing this year.  You are still tall for your age (48 inches) and skinny (50 pounds), both in the 90th percentile.  But you brain and thoughts have taken off this year! It's been so fun to see you learn to read this year, and do so good at it.  You ask a lot of really good questions as you are starting to comprehend what a big world we live in.  You have done really well at Kindergarten, not only by being a good student, but a friend to all.  I love hearing that.
You became a big brother again this year and have done so with such pride and excitement.  You are such a great helper and so sweet with baby Cade.  You are Reid continue to be great friends and have a great time playing all sorts of things together: pirate ship, camping, acting all of kinds of movies and then just plain wrestling. Your official best bud is still one Pierce Horton, but your favorite gal pal is sweet Avery.  You are set on marrying her. There's really no discussion to it, except when I have to remind you that getting married is a long, long, LONG ways off. :)
You have started asking a lot about God, Jesus and the Bible.  It does my heart wonders to hear how much you love God.  Your childlike faith is something I envy because even though there are so many other questions to be answered, a lot of which we don't have the answers to, you still seek God and love him.  Your Bible story time with Daddy is really special to you, and you have started going to the service with us at church.  You really love the praise and worship (Your favorite is "10,000 Reasons"), and do your best to be quite during the preaching.  We'll just say you draw a lot of pictures during this time. ;)

Some of your favorite things to do are: play legos, go to the movie theater, have playdates with friends, jump on the trampoline and have "partys", which means we get to have pizza and watch a movie while we eat.  You are not a picky eater and do a good job at least having a "no thank-you bite" of something.  Your favorite foods are pizza, mac & cheese, cheeseburgers and chocolate chips cookies (with vanilla ice cream). Last I heard, your favorite colors are still green and gold.
Probably the thing that stands out the most to me this past year is how your bravery is shining through. You have come a long ways from your terror of bugs and loud noises.  I can still tell when things bother you, but you handle them really well.  You even took your vaccinations with only a quick tear you wiped away. It's bittersweet to me, because while I'm so proud of you, it just shows me how much you are growing up.
We are so very blessed to be your mom and dad, and so proud of how sweet and loving you are to others.  We love how silly you are and how much you make us laugh with your quirky comments.  You certainly make life a lot more fun and special.
